How The Nike Training App Kept Me In Shape During Lockdown?
Amongst all the things that have been taken away from me as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, I must say that losing my ability to walk into the gym and feel that fat burn, has been the most disconcerting.
While I won’t say that during the initial stages of lockdown I was doing nothing but being a couch potato, I was definitely on that downward spiral when I came across the Nike Training Club app, which needless to say, changed my life.
As the name suggests the Nike Training App is an application created by Sports Giants, Nike, that in essence democratizes the idea of personal training by offering world-class professional training to every and anyone in possession of a smartphone for FREE.
The Nike Training Club app boasts an easy-to-use user interface. To get started you must first download the app onto your Android or iOS device, after which you will be asked to log in or join if you aren’t already a Nike Member.
Once logged in you’ll be asked introductory questions as it relates to your gender and how often you currently work out. After providing your responses, this information will be used to generate the perfect workout sessions for you based on your current workout advancement level.
Workout suggestions will span a range of over 100 mobility, strength training, yoga, and cardio workouts instructed via audio or demo videos.
After using the Nike Training Club app for approximately 3 months now, believe me when I say there’s a lot to love about it.
Top of my list in terms of what to love, however, is definitely the fact that it offers workout sessions tailored to your current advancement level. I mean think about it, if you are as advanced as they come in your workout, then downloading an app that’s only going to suggest beginner-type workout sessions, wouldn’t be very effective for you, now would it?
Additionally, I’ve really come to love the fact that the app allows you to work at your own pace. When you’re ready to start working out all you have to do is open the app, select your workout, and get started.
Alternatively, if you make the decision to start a 4 - 6 week workout program, the app also gives you the option to turn on or off push notifications that will remind you to work out. Now I don’t know about you, but for me, having this option to do away with push notifications is the BEST THING EVER because quite frankly, sometimes life can really get in the way and I don’t need another reminder of something I was supposed to do but didn’t, to start sending my anxiety levels through the roof.
If you, like the version of myself I mentioned earlier, find yourself on a downward spiral on your way to becoming a couch potato as a result of this lockdown, and wouldn’t mind some added motivation to work out at home, I highly recommend trying the Nike Training Club app.
Not only does this app make the whole process of exercising ten times easier, but in many ways, it functions as your very own personal trainer whose efforts you can enjoy from the comforts of your home.
